Earlier today, Toshiba's Computer Systems Division (CSD) unveiled a new
range of notebooks for 2009 at the Sunway Lagoon Resort Hotel. Consisting of new models from the Portege and Satellite series, the range that was on show today also featured a healthy spread of matching accessories.
The first new notebook that was launched today, the Toshiba Portege M900, offers an optimal balance of size, weight and performance and comes packed in an equally stylish textured bezel. Available in four different colors (Signature Brown, White, Pink, Red), the 13.3-inch ultra portable comes equipped with an Intel Core 2 Duo P8700 processor, an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570, and 2GB of RAM - a combo that ought to satiate your mobile multimedia needs.
The M900 also comes with hard drive protection technology that will keep your data safe from physical damage while you're on the road, and keeps your personal data secure from prying eyes by utilizing a combination of security features like the ever reliable finger print scanner, as well as SmartFace technology that allows you to log on by just showing your face.
We also saw two new models from the Satellite series - the "everyday computing" Toshiba Satellite L510 and the entertainment-centric Toshiba Satellite M500 - make their debut this morning.
The Toshiba Satellite L510 focuses on meeting the needs of "everyday computing" and offers a range of CPUs (Intel Pentium Dual Core or Intel Core 2 Duo) to choose from to meet your specific needs. There are also two graphics options on hand (Intel GMA 4500MHD, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4530) depending on how graphic-intensive your workload is. Regardless of your choice, the L510 is rounded off with a 14-inch high definition LED backbit display (16:9 ratio, 1366 x 768 pixel resolution), WLAN, Bluetooth, 4-in-1 card reader, HDMI port, and a DVD super multi drive.
But if a machine that's built for "everyday computing" doesn't hit the spot, then check out Toshiba's Satellite M500. Touted to be ready to handle all of today's demanding multimedia and entertainment tasks, the M500 comes with a glass coated edge-to-edge 14-inch 16:9 high definition LED back lit screen, a set of high-end Harman Kardon stereo speakers, a REGZA-Link HDMI interface, and ATI's Mobility Radeon HD 4570 graphics solution.
The M500 also comes with a unique hybrid storage system that combines a 500GB SATA HDD with a 64GB SSD. By separating critical software like your operating system on the SSD, and "bulky" data such as digital media on the SATA HD, you can expect faster boot up speeds while preserving the life
cycle of your HDD.
Unfortunately, we didn't get a hold of the pricing for these new models, but we will update this post once we have official word on them. Till then, you can check out all the detailed specifications at the official Toshiba website here: www.pc.toshiba-asia.com.
